Self-Care During Self-Quarantine
April 08, 2020Life is full of surprises, isn't it?
When you thought that your life would always be the same for the rest of your life, it turns out differently, unexpectedly.
Deep down, we know this too shall pass.
When everything has been back to normal - soon, do you expect to still be the same person as you are now? Or you want the better version of you? We have been given a 'pause' in life as the world is resetting and recharging. And while the mother earth is doing that, why don't we also do the same? Taking this opportunity to reevaluate our life.
As you might have seen on the news that travel industry is one of the most impacted industries. Many travel companies are cutting their workers or even closing down. Some closures are temporary and while some others might be indefinitely. It is complicated and stressful enough but I've decided to learn to see on the bright sides.
I finally have days off and opportunity to explore myself again. Doing the things which I never had time for and perhaps, also reconsider and re-plan the future I want.
When there are so many clouds in my head, I usually lay on bed, close my eyes and start conversation within my heart. Keep telling myself that everything is going to be just fine and we are still lucky enough to have many things to be grateful for.
Having nothing to plan or think about tomorrow creates a little space in my head that triggers anxiety. "What should I do now?"
Yes, what should I do now?
Tom Bilyeu once quoted something like: you are not tired, you just need something that excites you.
I used to have many hobbies, but what were those? I looked back those times when I was still in university or even high schools. I used to love watching beauty tutorials in Youtube, spending time watching movies & Korean dramas, learning new languages and listening to music. I stopped doing all these things because I did not have time due to work. However, I do now.
I am kind of person who believes that every story you read, movie or drama you watch and song you listen to always gives you a message and or some kinds of inspirations, either in work, relationship, family and or life in general.
What if your ultimate life goal has actually been distracted and now you've been alarmed and given the opportunity to reset it again?
This would help our mind in peace knowing that we are in His protection.
This is just another proof that your body actually depends on your mind.
I find it necessary to stop myself from reading all of the news about COVID-19 around the world. At first, I was curious and wanted to know. I used to read Twitter during my meals but now, I stopped. I prefer browsing interesting photos and videos on Instagram or even, not touch my phone at all.
We never know exactly when this will be over. However, one thing for sure is by obeying the instructions given by our government and WHO, we could help create a better situation. Staying at home is the best way to participate the war against this pandemic.
Let's protect our family by staying at home and do social/physical distancing.
Keep spreading positivity!
Our thoughts and prayers are with all the doctors, nurses and medical teams who are fighting the virus on the front tier and saving lives. Let's never stop praying for them.

Decompress
Staying at home with family is definitely priceless. Nevertheless, I still need time to be alone with only myself. I usually go to my room at 8 PM and start doing whatever I want. Before going to bed, I make time to meditate and just practice deep breathing. When there are so many clouds in my head, I usually lay on bed, close my eyes and start conversation within my heart. Revisit Yourself
What excites you, Edlyn? Weird. All I could think of is travel. Since I started working, the only thing that excites me is travelling. Visiting new and my favourite places unwinds me. However, in times like this, it seems crucial to have another hobbies which really require less mobility and social interaction.I used to have many hobbies, but what were those? Healing
One could only be healed when they finally accept their selves. During this time, let's try to surrender and let the Universe do whatever it needs to support us. Have faith in ourself and in God. Allocate time to talk to God and let Him know when you feel uneasy. You will never be tested beyond your strength. This would help our mind in peace knowing that we are in His protection.
Stay Positive
I was watching the local news on TV while I was writing this blog. The news anchor was interviewing a patient who has been recovered from the virus, she shared the key to maintaining our body immune is to stay happy and have faith. This is just another proof that your body actually depends on your mind.
