Makeup Tips for Travelling
October 26, 2015I love travelling whether it is overseas or just within Indonesia. In the meantime, I have plenty of free time as I just work for my family businesses. Therefore, I am good to go wherever I want.
The least exciting thing of travelling is packing. I am a typical of person who can out of the blue daydream or do other things in the middle of packing. I dunno. Random thoughts just come out of nowhere. That is why packing which actually can be done within an hour will take 3 hours, or sometimes more, for me.
I hope everyone has already known what to do in this upcoming Christmas holiday. My sister will be graduating in December from her master degree in UK. So, my family decides to spend a few weeks in UK and Europe before Christmas. We will still be celebrating Christmas and New Year in Jakarta with our big family. Geez, New Year! Can't believe it is almost the end of 2015! Time runs!
I usually pack my makeup lastly. Picking which RED lipstick I should bring for trip can take around 20 minutes although the colours are basically the same, just the brands that are different. Oh, well. That is a problem of me.
As I have learned my lesson that bringing many makeups will only eat my luggage space, so this time I try to minimise and simplify my makeup bag a bit. Yes, just a bit. Giving room for any new makeups that I will buy later.
1. Foundation
Choose foundation that you've known it works well for you. It is better to bring the one that contains SPF to also helps protect your skin. Nevertheless, it is still appropriate to bring a real suncream as well.
The other thing that you need to consider is that: you may want to choose foundation whose application does not need brush (if you do not want to bring brush).
2. Powder
Sometimes, our skin can act differently in countries or states other than our own. Like for instance, in Indonesia my skin has oily type but when I was in Australia, it became dry. It is normal to have 'makeup performance issues' (if there is such a thing) once you are overseas because your skin is changing and adapting. Powder will help your foundation to set no and also prevent excessive oil on your face.
Do not forget to bring a sponge for the application.
3. Brows
You can't miss this one obviously. It is not fun to have photos of you on Instagram with no eyebrow. I usually bring my Benefit eyebrow compact (Brow-to-go) as I find powder works better on me than pencil. But actually, it is better to bring pencil brow, if you can, as it will save more space.
If brows are so important for you, you want to consider bringing brow gel as well. Oh, a mini tweezer might also help to plug out all the unwanted little hair.
4. Blush
I am going to be in countries where the season is winter so I don't wanna look like a walking zombie. Blush on give you a 'warm' look. It is better to choose a darker pink blush for more autumnal/wintery look. Again, remember to bring the brush. Or, if you wanna use your finger, oh please, go ahead.
5. Lipsticks
Yes, lipsticks with S. I prefer to bring my red/maroon lipstick and a sheer tinted lip balm and also a usual lip balm. My favourite lip balm is the Lucas' Paw Paw. My current pigmented sheer lip balm is from Guerlain.
6. Eyeliner
Can never go wrong with a kohl black liner to tightline my waterline and even create winked eyes. Make sure, it is waterproof, kay?
7. Mascara
If you bring a mascara, don't forget to bring its complement, the lash curler. And for the hundredth time I tell you, make sure it is waterproof!
8. Eyeshadow
Neutral eyeshadows palette would be so great! A good neutral palette will allow you to create day look and night look with its darker colour. I always bring my eye primer from Etude to complete my eye look.
By the way have you checked Maybelline's the Nude eyeshadow neutral palette? It's a drugstore and it is Maybelline, FYI. Found it in whole Sydney but it is sold out everywhere and luckily, I found it in Hobart, Tasmania. Well, thank me later. Click here for info.
9. Makeup Remover
I've recommended you to bring waterproof makeups so it would be so evil if I don't remind you about makeup wipes or a makeup remover. Stay away from blemishes by always always cleaning up your face before a good night sleep.
You can either put all your makeups on your checked luggage or your cabin bag. I prefer put it on my checked bag as I do not wear makeup on airplane. I usually only keep an eyebrow pencil and a tinted lip balm to the airplane with me. I also bring a face wipes to clean all of the junk and oil that my skin produces while on the airplane. Make sure to place all your makeup in a mini bag or pouch so you can easily find them when you need.
Alright, I wish you all good luck for planning your holiday trip!
